Chili Davis is one half of Nocturnal Soul, his solo project is exploring some of the pitched down and disco side of house. Not sticking to one sound or era of music, he is as likely to turn back the clock and play an edit of a classic funk or soul record that you have forgotten that you knew and loved as he is to introduce you to your next favorite record from this year.
Alongside Sean Cormac and Alan M, Chili is part of NYC’s event team Forward Disco which aims to create a fun environment at each event. He has had the opportunity to play at a variety of venues in NYC including Cielo, halcyon, Sullivan Room, Open House, and more.

For this episode we are pleased to present one of the most innovative eastern European producers of electronic music today, Mihai Popoviciu from Romania. He started producing music in 2001 after being influenced by the techno and house virus and it took many years of experiments untill he came up with his first vinyl release in 2005. Since then he has developed an impressive discography with over 200 tracks on beatport. Mihai Popoviciu is the kind of producer that likes to innovate and always refine his varied sound palette, constantly surprising his audience.
It’s not a big surprise that Mihai’s reputation as a DJ grew fast in the past years taking him to Europe’s most important clubs and venues. His flavourous dj sets have a distinctive peronal touch delivering you a perfectly balanced mixture of groovy beats, warm pads and musical emotions that will get you addicted.

Cosmic Cowboys is a project born from the different styles of two young artists from Venice: Nicola Sansoni aka Randomatique and Kaled Jabari aka Kaledj. Great friends since they were 10 years old, they got involved in electronic music when they were 15. Influenced at first by artists such as Ian Pooley, Dj Deep, Chicken Lips, Frankie Knucles and then by names like Minilogue, Ripperton, Trentemoller, Martin Buttrich and Royksopp they developed a style that couldn’t be defined by any term other than “cosmic,” edging between deep-house, dub and tech-house with a quintessential romantic touch, always able to create a special intensity in their music.
They define their sound as “the romantic side of techno.”

We have a huge booking coming up March 16th @ the famous Cielo, performing opening duties for the Wobble party, a noteworthy underground event fueled by local talent. For this episode we are honored to be featuring such an important figure in the electronic music scene, Jean F. Cochois, more commonly known as The Timewriter. His records are extremely melodic, moody, and dreamy, and are just as suited for a dancefloor as they are to listen to and drift away. Extremely polished, refined, top notch production is what The Timewriter delivers, and is why he has been a staple for over one and a half decades with ten studio albums and countless records under his belt.

We are very pleased to present our featured guest for this episode, Abyss (Giuseppe Morabito). Brought to our attention in 2006, his track “Mind Games” on the legendary Buzzin’ Fly Record Label (which was also featured on John Digweed’s Transistions 2 Mix CD) was a huge influence in our taste and in our opinion helped shape tech house into the sound it still exhibits today by blurring the lines between tech house, minimal, deep and even progressive house. Since then, his discography includes releases on big labels such as Parquet, Renaissance, Forensic, Dessous, and Harlequin.
Abyss then formed Tea Boy Music, with a clear vision to create new and interesting music experimenting with fresh sounds and a very high attention to detail. His specialty is a sound that is deep and atmospheric while still maintaining the driving house sound we can associate with coming out of Italy. With the Italians famous for style, it’s encouraging to hear that substance is something that he regards equally important with his approach to production.

A graduate of SAE, and a more important school, the NYC underground, he has been churning out quality productions for quite some time.
